Our Values

"The more we strive to secure a common good corresponding to the real needs of our neighbors, the more effectively we love them."

-Pope Benedict XVI, Caritas in Veritate

The Office for Community Development is grounded in Sacred Scripture and the mandates of the Church, especially in regard to Catholic Social Teaching. We strive to build the Kingdom of God through adherence to the following Core Values:

Dignity:

Recognition of each person as an image of God worthy of respect, compassion and justice.

Participation:

Encourage and celebrate the diversity and gifts that are the backbone and catalyst for the positive transformation of our neighborhoods.

Partnership:

Weave a strong community fabric by strengthening neighborhood institutions, identifying existing assets and building coalitions to address community challenges.

Promotion:

Advance our mission by enhancing the physical environment and announcing the good news about vibrant, safe and healthy communities.

Stewardship:

Be responsible and prudent in applying the resources we have been entrusted with to carry out our mission. Be environmentally aware.
