Office for Community Development

Welcome to the Office for Community Development of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. The Office for Community Development serves as a catalyst to promote positive transformation in targeted communities throughout the Archdiocese. Founded in 2001, the Office for Community Development partners with other faith-based organizations, government agencies, and local groups to accomplish its mission.

The Office for Community Development of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia is a vital resource for neighborhoods. We are a catalyst that promotes revitalization and stabilization of communities. Our staff works with community leaders to identify strengths and provide resources to address each community's unique needs. From bricks and mortar projects to small business development; from resident safety to community outreach and organizing, the Office for Community Development restores hope and improves the quality of life in Philadelphia neighborhoods.


Groundbreaking for a new senior housing development!

Congratulations to the Office for Community Development and Catholic Health Care Services on starting construction on a new senior housing development in East Kensington.  The Most Reverend John J. McIntyre, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, presided over a prayerful groundbreaking ceremony on June 4th.  Over 100 people attended the festive occasion.

Repurposing Church Property

OCD works closely with Catholic Health Care Services (CHCS) to develop senior housing within the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.  This article in Catholic Health World describes some of the good work of CHCS.  OCD was instrumental in assisting CHCS in developing Saint John Neumann Place and Nativity B.V.M. St. Francis Villa begins construction
